Introduce Bipartisan Access to Medicare and Hospice Act,

Allowing Physician Assistants to Serve Hospice Patients

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Representatives Mike Thompson (CA-1) and Lee Terry (NE-2) yesterday introduced legislation increasing rural communities' access to high quality health care. The bipartisan "Medicare Hospice Access Care Act," allows physician assistants to care for Medicare hospice patients.

"This is a common sense step for American health care. Medicare patients in rural parts of our great country should have the same freedom of choice as Medicare patients in America's cities. Our legislation ensures this, guaranteeing uninterrupted hospice benefits to seniors in medically underserved communities," said Terry.

Jan 25, 2012

WASHINGTON, DC –Tuesday January 24th, 2012

Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE) today issued the following statement in response to President Barack Obama's 2012 State of the Union Address.

"While the President claims that we need to revive the American middle class – he denies the creation of 20,000 Americans jobs by rejecting the Keystone XL Pipeline.

"The President's tactics have failed to get our country back on track. Since he took office, 2 million more Americans are out of work, the deficit has doubled, and more Americans than ever are on food stamps.

Terry Calls For Year-Long Payroll Tax Cut, Conference With Senate

Dec 20, 2011

WASHINGTON, DC –

Congressman Lee Terry (R-NE) today voted to pass a motion to disagree with the Senate Amendments on H.R. 3630, the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2011. This vote rejects the Senate's two-month extension of the payroll tax cut, and effectively forces the Senate into a conference with House Members, who advocate a year-long payroll tax cut.

Outside of the payroll tax cut extension, H.R. 3630 includes varied Medicare, tax, welfare, and unemployment insurance provisions and program extensions, all aimed to alleviate economic stresses on middle income Americans and decrease unemployment. Amongst the provisions are the protection of Social Security, and pro-growth tax relief programs for American businesses of all sizes. Additionall...

Learn more about us debt.

I place economy among the first and most important virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. If we run into such debts, we must be taxed in our meat and drink, in our necessities and in our comforts, in our labor and in our amusements. If we can prevent the government from wasting the labor of the people, under the pretense of caring for them, they will be happy.
