Terry Statement on Healthcare Reform

WASHINGTON- Congressman Lee Terry issued the following statement after President Barack Obama’s healthcare news conference:

“I agree with President Obama that our healthcare system is broken and needs to be fixed.  Healthcare reform is a massive and complicated task for Congress to improve.  It is critically important that all options from both parties be heard and that the process is not rushed.  I believe government-run healthcare will lead to rationing, eliminate the sacred doctor-patient relationship and be astronomical in cost.”

Congressman Terry’s simple and affordable healthcare plan will be introduced soon in the House of Representatives:

“My simple and affordable plan to reform our healthcare system is to allow the uninsured to opt into the federal employee health insurance plan with no preexisting condition restrictions and it provides help for the indigent.   The federal employees plan, offered to all government employees, gives individuals and families many choices for coverage through various private insurance companies.  This plan allows people to choose the coverage they want at a price they can afford.   My common sense plan allows people to keep their current coverage, doesn’t create any new and expensive government programs and will protect the doctor-patient relationship.
