WASHINGTON- Congressman Lee Terry issued the following statement following an announcement by Housing and Urban Development that funding will be restored to the Section 8 rental voucher program.
“This is welcome news for Omaha and cities across the country,” said Congressman Terry. “Thanks to this resolution more than 400 families in Omaha will not be out on the street.”
During Congressional hearings in 2008 a potential shortfall in the Section 8 voucher program was acknowledged yet public housing officials in Omaha were not notified until more than a year later. Congressman Terry believes serious changes need to be taken to head off any future shortfalls that might occur with this vital program.
