Terry Concerned with Recovery.gov Errors

WASHINGTON- Congressman Lee Terry issued the following statement after learning about errors on the government website recovery.gov, which was created to publicly show how stimulus funds are being distributed.  Under information for Nebraska the website lists 48 Congressional Districts for our state, when we only have three.

The website lists the 16th congressional district of Nebraska as receiving more than $1.2 million in stimulus funds when no such congressional district exists.  The website also indicates the 31st congressional district of Nebraska received over $2.2 million in funds, another congressional district that does not exist in our state.

“The information contained in this website is very concerning to me”, said Congressman Terry. I was adamantly opposed to this trillion dollar-spending bill that was ripe for waste, fraud and abuse.  This is a perfect example of what I feared would be the outcome of such a huge funding program. While families continue to struggle and businesses continue to shed jobs the federal government can’t keep an accurate account of how the stimulus funds are being distributed.  Where is the $4.6 million that was supposedly allocated to non-existent congressional districts in Nebraska and who are the 39.8 people who supposedly now have jobs?”

Under the Congressional District section for our state it indicates Nebraska has 48 Congressional Districts. The non-existing Congressional Districts amount to more than $4.6 million dollars in funds and 39.8 jobs saved.
